I’ve been wanting to shoot this suit set for almost a year. I purchased this set at an Oscar de la Renta sample sale in New York City late last year. Usually the brand’s suit sets will set you back a couple grand, but this was a runway sample from PreFall 2016, meaning it was a current piece (at the time) and it fit me when I tried it on. Since I’ve always aspired to being a “sample size” the fact that an actual runway piece fit me well pushed me to impulsively purchase the set. Save the fact that Hillary Clinton inspired this purchase with her outfit during debate 1, arriving wearing the blood of men. I’ve tried to hunt down this set to find an MSRP, but with no luck. I assume this is one of the show pieces that didn’t actually make it to production or it didn’t impress any buyers.
Needless to say, a scored deal on an Oscar de la Renta piece is still not truly an affordable price. The set was $500 which I assume was anywhere in the ballpark of 50%-75% off whose material is made of a lightweight woven wool with impeccable tailoring and construction (fit for the model). Though I’ve yet to actually wear it, this is one of my better purchases of my life and I am completely in love with it though I seldom don it.
